Assalamualaykum lovelies!
My previous motivational desktop wallpapers went a teensy bit viral on Pinterest. They are actually the highest traffic router to my blog from Pinterest right now! Which actually had my cogwheels turning. I just recently posted Free Fall/Autumn desktop wallpapers on the blog but I knew I had to make a special freebie for my dearest Muslim followers too! I mean, we really do need a boost right now, don't we? Regardless of where we are, what kind of battle we are fighting; we are all in a flippin' pandemic. What better way for a Muslim during this time to turn back to Allah and refresh our memories with the reminders Allaah has already sent down for us? I've handpicked these specific verses from the Quran and Adhkaar (words of remembrance) to help relieve stress and bring a little light in our lives during this rather tragic time for a lot of my brothers and sisters. A bit of trivia (good-to-know) information about the text on these wallpapers as well as some ways to lighten up your spirit and renew your faith if you find it low at this time:
1. Hasbunallahu Wa Ni'mal Wakeel
These are also the words used by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) when he was thrown in the pits of fire burnt by the polytheists who wanted to prosecute him. However, his firm faith in Allah did not let him fear their large numbers and cruelty. On saying these words with conviction, they became a shield for him from the fire. Allaah Subhanu wa ta'ala immediately commanded the fire to become cool and safe for Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him). (From al-Bukhari). This shows how critical it is to hold unwavering faith in Allah's support even in times of extreme crisis. It is also prescribed to read during times of any other physical/mental afflictions like anxiety, depression and ailments.
2. "Verily, with every hardship, there is relief" [Al-Sharh 94:06]
This is something we should all strive to remind ourselves when faced with trials. There is no trial that is not eventually followed up with ease. What is imperative though, for the Muslim, is to take it in his/her stride, be patient and show gratitude towards Allah while also not giving up on making the situation better. This verse from the noble Quran helps Muslims to not fall into a sense of despair and helplessness on what may feel like endless agitation but in reality, may soon come to an end (if only they had been patient a little longer).
3. "SubhanAllah, Alhumdulillah, AllaahuAkbar"
Reported by Abu Hurayrah from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Whoever glorifies Allah (says SubhanAllah) thirty-three times immediately after each prayer, and praises Allah (says Alhamdulillah) thirty-three times, and magnifies Allah (says Allahu Akbar) thirty-three times, this makes ninety-nine, then to complete one hundred says Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-mulk wa lahul-hamd wa huwa ala kulli shayin qadeer (There is no god except Allah Alone, with no partner, His is the power and His is the praise, and He is Able to do all things) his sins will be forgiven even if they are like the foam of the sea." (Reported by Muslim, 939).
4. "If you are grateful, I will surely increase you in favor..." [Ibraheem 14: 07]
This verse is part of the full verse which further goes on to dictate that there is severe punishment for those are ungrateful. Gratitude is in fact, a means of attaining Barakah (blessings) in a Muslim's life. It is almost a "life hack" of sorts in a good Muslim's manual. This is not just an Islamic concept but a concept often preached in all prescriptions of self-improvement because it allows a person to focus on what is good and not dwell on things outside of his/her control. There are innumerable favors of Allaah upon us. When we feel down, why not take stock of everything that you do have going for you?
5. "And He found you lost and guided you." [Adh-Dhuha 93;07]
This Ayah is personally one of my favorites because through it, we can reflect on not only guidance of self but of others. How many times have we felt betrayed by the world and found fulfillment and sukoon only in sujood (prostration) to Allah? This is because our heart feels at peace in the hands of the One who guides hearts at will. Other times, we need to remember that there is no point constantly lamenting or trying to change toxic people in our lives. Remember that "And whoever Allah guides - for him there is no misleader." [39:37] Guidance is only from Allaah Subhanu wa ta'ala. Those whose hearts have been hardened cannot acknowledge your repeated efforts at making them realize their cruelty. The best way is to seek protection from Allah, distance yourself from their jibes and taunts through firm Eeman, and make supplication for yourself and them to be guided to the right path.
6. "And seek help through patience and prayer" [Al Baqarah 2:45]
This is the accumulation of all the points we have talked about until now. Consistent prayer, a steady faith in Allaah's help and the succeeding reward of battling your trials with patience is the foundation to overcoming any obstacle in Islam. By being patient, Islam doesn't mean to accept every harsh circumstance to overtake you and allow others to mistreat you. Rather it means to try your best in every situation and then leave everything to Allah because His judgement never disappoints and for every misdeed there is recompense.
