Craving Ravings// Juicy Chicken Shaslik!

I don't know about you but nothing in the chicken category beats juicy, oozing with flavor and barbecued chicken on skewers!

Well, faux barbecue works too.. I guess; which is why today we have Chicken Shaslik (also pronounced as Sashlik sometimes).

I have no idea whether this dish is Indian, from Pakistan or Bangladesh, I couldn't trace the exact origins, however, we had a restaurant here (we still have it but I consider it to be insignificant now) which had this grand dish brought sizzling on the table, it was the star of their menu I tell you, until, they revamped the whole menu and the next thing I knew was the waiter telling that they don't do that dish anymore.
What? What did he say?!
I can't even tell you how amazing it was, so I began searching online of course and couldn't find one that came out the same but decided to pick one out with the best reviews and give it a go!

And ta-da, they turned out terrific, except for the fact they weren't the exact same restaurant style cuz' I'm pretty sure the hotel didn't use barbecue sauce!
I did this with 500 gms worth chicken breasts and that delivered 10 big sticks with four chunks of chicken each. You can adjust the quantity as you want of course!
To download and print the recipe, simply right-click and save it as an image.
I had a mental tragedy (sort of) goin' on since the past three days since I'd lost my Nikon's memory card, so I had just a skewer left by the time I found it and took a snap!

Merry dining folks,
Take care, Nash :)

The Decorista Chronicles//DIY Floral Deco Tape!

 Ahoy there, matey!
I daresay that you must have a beautiful paper napkin stash in you DIY trousseau if you are a craftypants like me because, okay, don't get me started on everything you can do with napkins! Decoupage? Yes please! But when you combine that with the mighty warrior of crafty supplies, washi tape, here's what you get.

A very vintage, a very floral, a very classy deco tape that can be used in a  jabillion ways.

DIRECTIONS:
1.Get your supplies ready, masking tape, scissors (in two different sizes, big and small for normal and delicate cuts), cute printed napkins and glue.
2.Cut out the pattern on the napkins. Of course , mine had to have vintage roses on it given I have a retard obsession for 'em.
3.Glue down the cut-outs onto the tape. I would suggest doing a clear finish of modpodge on top too; but I didn't have that handy at the moment.
4.Voila, wrap fabulous presents, update blah decor or restyle mediocre accessories to fashion statements. You've got your very own gorgeously florastic masking tape for cheap!

And because it's masking tape, you can untape it when you're feeling a different trend hottening you up.

But really, I don't think I would ever tire up of my tape. Look what I made with it!

Onto the drawer of my side table, it looks so refreshingly spring, not to mention 13198089829 times better in real life than in the picture.
Eternal spring in my bedroom, yeehaaa!

And if you are into scrapbooking this is just as fabulous for that too.
I got this napkin pack from Ikea, and I think I might end up making more of my tape from a riot of colors and patterns.
What would you do with yours?
Happy inspirations and pin this if it sparked your next idea!

The Freebie Jubilee//Free Printable Earthy-toned gorgeousness!

Because it's been raining cats and dogs over here in India, and the wi-fi effortlessly gets cranky, I've been waiting about a week to actually do this post for you guys.
On one hand, I'm smitten by the glorious weather with chilly winds and monsoon blooms, I've been dying to launch my newest collection which turned next to impossible with the electricity cutting down at the most random times!

Annyyywayyy, all that climate inspired such a drool-worthy earthy-hued collection. This collection is going to be nostalgic to me later on because it was born out of the rosy buds that sprung this season by our Villa's courtyard and the chocolatey tones of the rain-sodden soil, add to that the lush green of the leaves springing everywhere!

So cheer up a loved one with some uber-sweet giftwrap or scrapbook your fav memories on these sheets. If not that, use it to hip up any of your other creations!
And lastly, if you find the papers too printer-heavy, then download the co-ordinating labels to dress up your gifts and accessories!

Happy creating!

Download and Print the complete set here!>>

I would have loved to put up a snapshot of the my courtyard over here, but I guess I'll keep that for the next post!

What are you gonna use these papers for? Do share!
Thanks for dropping by & don't forget to pin if you heart this!
(Psst, tune into my other freebies here!)

Pretty Me Up//DIY Chunky Braided Bracelet!

I  know I told you guys in the last post I'll show you all the brilliant ways you can use your very own customized ribbons..right, about that, I have no idea how this DIY just creepily snaked it's way into my afternoon! Anyway, so for today's easy-to-do DIY , we have chunky braided bracelets, out of socks! *Hawwww, yeah, I know, check it out*

First things first,
My recommendations:
-Choose a dark colored ol' sock you've never worn
-or a sock that had suchaaaa crazy pattern that you never wore it n' it somehow found it's way in your home (yeah, those funky patterned socks will do fine as bracelets!)
-or if has to be light colored make sure it's fresh
-Finally, don't use a fuzzy fabric kinda sock (I learnt my lesson)

Like I said, this somehow wormed it's way in this afternoon,so I don't have any pictures of the steps, but here's what you do in layman's terms:
(Oh please, please, pkease don't step away from making this cuz' I didn't take pictures, because I'm sure this project is so easy, you'll get it right from the steps!)

1.Place the sock on a planar surface, along the vertical end of the sock, section it into three parts diagonally, and then cut through, BUT NOT ALL THE WAY THROUGH, good.

2.The rim of the sock where it goes around the ankles, you wanna keep that portion safe n' sound (so from the top of the sock keep up about two cm uncut.)

3.Braid the three sections you cut.

4.After braiding all the way to the end, gather all the three strips and use scotch tape to cluster them together.

5.Take the start (uncut portion of the sock and loop it over the clustered (taped) end.Use scotch tape again to fix the start n' end together)

6.Use a ribbon, in a bright color (or actually one that co-ordinates with the sock's color) and wind it over the taped part.

7.Finish off by tying the end of the ribbon in a mini bow.

Becuz' you guys know I'm sorta bananas for florals, I used some sharpies again to deck up the plain white thing, the thinner the fabric of your sock and the brighter and cuter the color, the prettier the bracelet according to me :)

^the finished product :)
^The side :) :)
^the back :) :) :)

So there you have it cupcakes, upcycling socks, maybe not the most terrific thing to do, but crazy anyway ;)

Do you like making weird transformations like me?

Loved these? Don't forget to pin, tweet and stumble!

Million jabillion hugs,
Nash

The Decorista Chronicles- Hack your ribbons into gorgeousness!

So today class, we shall learn to create our own custom-designed ribbons!
Uh-oh, of course,Aloha!
Dudettes, I had a really hectic week this time, so that meant I couldn't do a post in all this while which by the way is basically why I have something very fun and simple for you today, but wait, wait, ask the end result!
Freakin' pretty! Take a look yourself!

And I tell you what, with this tutorial I give you a bonus freebie, but you have to wait for that till the end, buhahahaha!

Ahem, anyway,
as I was saying, on those days when old Mr. Washi Tape is finished, or maybe suddenly it's too expensive, apart from those cute designs which are hard to do on ribbons, you can actually create endless designs in practically minutes on ribbons that are already probably dangling somewhere in your pretty lil' nest or (congratulations!) if they are neatly arranged in your nook prolly' waiting to smothered in loveliness!

Ima show you crafters how to do a few designs right now, and gonna top on a few other designs you could try yourself, so here goes, we're doing polkas, dye-effect stripes, floral n' herringbone!

The Decorista Chronicles//DIY Cross-Stitch Wall Art (without the stitching!)

Well, hullo there wall-art lovers united!
Lookie here!

Let's start with the behind-the-scenes of this wall-art adventure tale.
It all began with a cute idea to use a stamp to punch in some cross marks using inkpads to create a beautiful rose *cross-stitch" wall-art.
Problem #1 encountered: I don't own stamps, in fact, I don't even own a single stamp. I'm not that aaaahhh-such a pretty stamp! kinda girl...no offense.
Problem #2 encountered: I don't own inkpads,refer to problem #1.

So now what?
Nothing to worry about, I thought. I can make my own (stamp), with a pencil eraser topper!
Wow, that's brilliant, I was almost pleased with myself to begin working on it when I thought, hmmm, why not make it easier?
Great, the only "cross-mark" thing I could come up with was a + sign screw driver. Hmm, sounds good, until I actually tried it of course. It came out a horrible mess.
So much for the old rusty screw-driver fiasco.
Wait, there's still hope! What about the rubber topper idea? So I tried that too, maybe it would've worked if I had inkpads at hand, but with paint? Nope, it looked like some kid's finger nail marks drenched in paint.
Ugh!
There was a way, but I was determined to think of an easier way until I finally gave in, to the hard way..
which, (btw), hardly turned out hard at all, you could set your little ones to do it once they get the idea!
Just get down sketch pens in your fav colors and some canvas!
Don't have a canvas? Use an old-shoe box lid, carton lid any lid for which you can cut a white sheet to size and glue it on. Then start on a cross-marking spree like me,

Oh, you wanted to know why I was so grounded to do this stuff and hang it prettily on my wall in the first place?

Here, look at this mouth watering inspiration!

Here are snaps of my progress with my lil colorful weapons:
